Last Wednesday (St. Patrick's Day) I jumped on a plane to Houston, Texas to see my cousins and good friend Bill Dudley. Wednesday night was spent catching up with Aaron, Ashley, Lauren, and Cameron Noto as well as playing Cameron's new hockey game Denise and I got him for his 4th Birthday.
Thursday we got up had breakfast and made our way over this place called Kemah for lunch at T-Bone Tom's Barbecue. I recommend the Armadillo Eggs - delicious. Jalapeno peppers stuff with beef brisket, wrapped in bacon, bread in hush puppy batter and deep friend. That afternoon I met up with Bill over in Galveston. It was really amazing to have been down there in 2008 before Hurricane Ike, and then to visit again after the storm - seeing what was rebuilt and what did not survive. We hung out and watched some of the NCAA Basketball Tournament games before heading over to one of the marinas and a restaurant called the Olympia Gill for some light Greek food out on the deck.
Friday Aaron, Ashley, myself and the kids all packed up for the drive to Dallas (about 4 hours). We got to see Angela's new apartment before grabbing pizza for lunch and heading up to Farmers Branch where Monica and Sean live. Friday night we all had dinner together there before going to Angela's indoor soccer team's game. They were short a girl, so Monica got to play as well. About 5 minutes before the half - Angela gets red carded. Oops.
Saturday we went to see the Dallas Stars play the Ottawa Senators. My first and only NHL game of the season and I had to go to Texas to see it. Go figure. Saturday night after grabbing diner at Big Dave's (Angela's boyfriend Dave's restaurant - awesome burgers), we had a Wii Tennis Tournament and played some Trivial Pursuit only to find that it had started snowing outside. The ironic part is that while it was cold snowing in Dallas it was sunny and 65 degrees in Delaware.
Sunday we hung out and watched some more basketball and then went out for some authentic Tex Mex. The theme of the trip has clearly been food - if you hadn't picked up on that. Sunday is was back to Philadelphia. It was really great seeing all my cousins, and I know we're all excited to see them when they visit us here in Delaware in June.
